The Fulcher Hagler LLP family mourns the passing and honors the life of longtime partner Michael B. (“Mike”) Hagler, who entered into rest on January 7, 2014 in Augusta.

Although Mike was highly regarded for his exceptional skills as an attorney and problem solver for the firm and our clients, he was, to anyone who knew him, always more than a lawyer.  He was a dear friend and an inspiration, a beacon of knowledge and a passionate advocate for truth.  Words cannot capture the vigor and zeal with which he lived and worked.  He truly was a unique spirit.

An Augusta native, Mike graduated from Aquinas High and Furman University before obtaining his law degree from the University of Georgia and his LL.M. in Taxation from NYU.  He joined Fulcher Hagler in 1980 and served as the firm’s managing partner for nearly two decades.  The firm thrived under his financial and operational leadership, and Mike was frequently recognized by various publications throughout his career for excellence in his practice areas.  He mentored and inspired many young attorneys who went on to establish successful legal careers.

Mike was a lifelong member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church in Augusta, where he served in numerous leadership roles.  In 2013, Mike and his wife Pia received the prestigious Bishop Gartland Service Award from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Savannah for their service to the church.  He was an ardent supporter of the church’s education and stewardship programs.

Mike loved his family and friends, the outdoors, athletic competition, and serving the community.  He was active in many local and state organizations and competed in numerous triathlons and marathons.  He died after battling cancer for more than four years.

It is with great sadness and reverence that we honor the life of our friend and partner Mike Hagler.
