Sam joined the Business and Taxation Group of Fulcher Hagler as an associate in June of 2018. Prior to this, he served for over seven years on active duty as a judge advocate in the United States Marine Corps.
During his time in the Marine Corps, Sam gained extensive litigation experience while serving as a defense counsel, prosecutor, and Special Assistant United States Attorney for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina. Additionally, Sam served for a year as a deputy general counsel to the base commander for the largest Marine Corps air base on the east coast.
Sam was born and raised in the Augusta area, and he attended Westminster Schools of Augusta from kindergarten through high school. He is a 2006 graduate of the University of Georgia, where he received a B.A. in Latin and Classical Culture. He is also a 2010 graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law. While in law school, Sam was a member of the editorial board and a notes editor for the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law. Sam also completed an externship with the Honorable David R. Sweat of the Superior Court, Western Judicial Circuit and served as a third-year practice act intern in the Walton County District Attorney’s office through the law school’s prosecution clinic. Additionally, while in the Marine Corps, Sam was competitively selected to receive a Master of Laws in Federal Criminal Practice at the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. As part of this program, he completed a semester externship with the Honorable Marc Treadwell, District Court Judge for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.
Sam’s practice includes advising corporate and business organizations, contracts, commercial litigation, and estate planning. With his background in criminal defense and prosecution, Sam is also ready to assist clients with internal investigations and criminal matters.
In his free time, Sam enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He also continues to serve as a Marine reservist with the 4th Civil Affairs Group in Hialeah, Florida.
